PhD positions 2027 (3rd call)

ComplexCité offers 3 PhD positions in 2027 (more about the contract). Candidates must have a master’s degree or an equivalent diploma at the time of their enrolment (beginning of the PhD). They must not have been awarded a doctoral degree. The criteria for selection are scientific excellence and quality of the scientific project. The call aims to promote applications that fit into an interdisciplinary and inter-team project of the ComplexCité consortium. The selection will be made by a jury made up of the Scientific Committee. Note that it is mandatory to be already in contact with the proposed thesis advisor(s) who belong(s) to ComplexCité to apply. Deadlines:

  • Opening: April 2027
  • Closure: End of May 2027
  • Publication of the results: June 2027
  • The 3rd call is not open yet.

How to apply when the call is open: The applicants should prepare a single PDF file that includes:

  • Application form (to be downloaded here)
  • Curriculum vitae
  • Description of the scientific project (max. 3 pages)
  • Letter of recommendation from the proposed doctoral supervisor(s) who belong(s) to ComplexCité
  • Complete track record of master studies (all grades available at the date of submission; master diploma if already obtained)

Results:

  • Coralie Pauchet will carry out her PhD at LPSM & Institut Pasteur on the topic “Mathematical modeling and control of the propagation of mosquito borne diseases in a heterogeneous setting” under the supervision of Luis Almeida (CNRS & LPSM), Simon Cauchemez (Institut Pasteur) and Nicolas Vauchelet (LAGA / Université Sorbonne Paris Nord).
  • Simon Defradas will carry out his PhD at MAP5 & LJLL on the topic “Mathematical and numerical modeling of cochlear tonotopy” under the supervision of Angèle Niclas (MAP5) and Yves Capdebosq (LJLL).
  • Lilly Berland will carry out her PhD at IRIF on the topic “Distributed algorithms in infinite configurations” under the supervision of Mikaël Rabie (IRIF).
  • Mathias Quelin will carry out his PhD at MAP5 on the topic “Frugal generative models for video generation and inpainting” under the supervision of Alasdair Newson (MAP5) and Andrés Almansa (CNRS & MAP5).

Results:

  • Raphaël Stussi is a recipient of the ComplexCité 2025 PhD funding call. He will carry out his PhD at MAP5 on the topic “Development and analysis of algorithms for electron cryo-microscopy,” under the supervision of Rémy Abergel, Sylvain Durand, and Camille Pouchol (MAP5).
